What the AI does today, and what it needs.
Tribe is described as AI-enhanced, so it is worth being exact. Two things call a hosted language model today, and only when you ask. Several more are written and tested but have no scheduled job running them, so they do nothing on their own. This page keeps the two apart.
Feature by feature
| Feature | What it does | Where you reach it | What it needs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Conversation starters | Five things to bring up with a person, based on their interests and family details and when you last spoke. Kept for seven days. | The Insights tab, with a refresh button; the API; an agent tool | A Mercury 3 key (Inception Labs) |
| Meeting prep briefing | A seven-part briefing: summary, recent interactions, open items, trajectory, conversation starters, topics to avoid, and gaps in the profile. | The API and an agent tool. Not in the web app. | An Anthropic key (Claude Sonnet 5.5) |
| Insights | Notes about a relationship, listed on the Insights tab. | The Insights tab; the API; an agent tool | Nothing writes insights today, so the list is empty unless a row was added by hand |
| Suggested profile updates | Facts pulled from email, offered for you to accept or dismiss. | The API and an agent tool list and accept them | Nothing creates suggestions today |
The Settings page has a switch for each AI feature. They are saved, but nothing reads them yet, so turning one off does not stop it. Nothing fills in a profile on its own: a person, or an agent through the API, does the filling.
Conversation starters
Open a profile, pick Insights, and Tribe asks for five conversation starters unless it already holds five that are less than a week old. Each comes with a category, such as shared interest, family, or follow-up. Refresh asks again.
What leaves Tribe for that request: the person's name, company, title, relationship type, hobbies, sports, reading and conversation interests, spouse's name and marital status, when you last had contact, and the relationship strength. Fields Tribe encrypts are not sent. The model is Mercury 3 from Inception Labs.
With no key set, or when the call fails, the request returns an empty list and the tab shows nothing. Nothing falls back to canned suggestions.
Meeting prep briefings
A briefing is one request to Claude Sonnet 5.5 with the person's profile. The answer comes back in seven parts.
The briefing code can also pull recent email, commitments, and sentiment from Courier and upcoming meetings from Cadence. The API route does not hand it those clients today, so a briefing built through the API reads only the profile. Like conversation starters, it leaves out the encrypted fields.
The Brief Me button and the briefing panel are built but not on the profile page, so today you ask for a briefing through the API or an agent.
41 agent tools
Tribe ships an MCP server, relayed through Roost, so a coding or planning agent can use the contact book. It talks to Tribe's own API, so it sees what the web app sees.
- 29 core tools
- Contacts (list, get, create, update, delete, merge, search, look up, autocomplete), groups and notes, the timeline, commitments, stale relationships, upcoming dates, the dashboard, the network graph, completeness, briefings, insights, conversation starters, suggested updates, and import and export.
- 12 outreach tools
- Creator brands (create, list, get, merge), creator imports (stage, get, resolve a row), and the permission side of outreach: resolve a contact, read and update outreach preferences, the relationship summary, and re-consent evidence.
The full list, grouped, is on the home page.
